Primephonic is a digital music scale-up that has been dubbed by the media as ‘the Spotify of classical music’. With the best 100% classical music streaming service we are reinventing the digital classical music experience and reigniting a global passion for the genre.

Classical music lovers are currently heavily underserved in the digital space. We are changing this by offering the world’s most extensive classical music catalogue, the highest audio quality and the best search in the industry. At the same time, we pay out classical artists in a fairer way.

Primephonic launched its streaming service (Android, iOS and web) in the United States, United Kingdom and The Netherlands in the Fall 2018. In June 2019 we have started with our global roll out

Based in Amsterdam, with a commercial office in New York City, our rapidly growing team is home to over 30 passionate professionals of twenty different nationalities.


The role

About 200.000 people have downloaded our app. Over the past 9 months we have tested and optimized a lot in our online marketing mix and we have gathered loads of behavioral data. But we simply lacked time and capacity to analyze these data in a structured and continuous way. 

As we are growing and rolling out globally rapidly, we therefore need to gear up our data analytics. A lot. Think:

  • Identify, across different countries, what in app subscriber behavior triggers conversion most. Based on that, determine improvements for our onboarding journey

  • Analyze which playlists and unique content are most popular with our different subscriber profiles. And based on that, determine content priorities for our content team

  • Assess the effectiveness of our search engine. Which search requests lead to immediate play and which to a second search request? And based on that determine priorities for our search team

  • Analyze what in app behavior during the 14-day trial period had the highest impact on paying customers. The CRM strategy will be based on your recommendations. 

  • We have had lots of PR coverage, a.o. New York Times, Financial Times, Forbes, FD, NRC, BNR, NPO 1, Corriere de la Serra, etc. But we do not know yet what type of coverage leads to higher or less loyal subscribers? 


In a nutshell: we are sitting on a wealth of data of which the vast majority has been untouched: the dream for every data analyst! Over time we intend to grow this role into a team, which you could lead. But let’s first get started and dig into the data together. 

You will work closely together with our leadership team, the online marketing team, our data scientist and development team (10 FTE).


🧐Who are you?

  • Master's Degree, e.g. Math, Economics, (technical) Business Admin or Psychology;

  • At least 2 years of working experience in a start-up or agency in a similar role.

  • Advanced experience with Excel and Google Analytics and (ideally) knowledge of tools such as SQL, Tableau, and Python;

  • Strong analytical skills including the ability to summarize quantitative concepts and to share those results with stakeholders in a clear and efficient manner;

  • Structured and able to manage conflicting priorities, juggle projects simultaneously and meet time-sensitive deadlines;

🚀Even better if you have:

  • A background in statistics and experience with CRO, and knowledge of one of these A-B testing tools like Google Optimize, Optimizely, Sitespect or Visual Website Optimizer.

  • Knowledge of tools like Hotjar, Appsflyer, Mixpanel, Google Tagmanager are all a plus.

  • You have a passion for websites, apps, webshops and in particular understand the key drivers and think how to improve on these metrics.

  • Unify data from various sources to prepare for further analysis.


  • You can set up our data analysis from scratch

  • You will join an inspiring and global tech company with 30 colleagues from twenty different nationalities

  • Ability to truly make a strategic impact with your analysis, tests and recommendations. You are in the lead for leveraging all marketing and user data.
